ONDA

ONDA, made by DEKA, uses 2.45 GHz Coolwaves microwave energy; here is how to check what is being proposed and where.

How it works

ONDA is a device from DEKA that applies microwave energy at 2.45 GHz using a technology called Coolwaves. Microwave energy is absorbed preferentially by water-rich and fatty tissue, so it can warm deeper layers while the handpiece cools the skin surface. It is used for body and facial contouring and for skin tightening. Results vary and often require a series of sessions.

Good to know

  • Ask which areas are planned and how many sessions are proposed.
  • Clarify whether the goal is tightening, fat reduction, or both, since expectations differ.
  • Mention pregnancy, implants, and skin conditions in the area to the doctor.
  • Warmth, redness, mild swelling, and tenderness are common; blistering or nodules are uncommon but possible.

Checking a ONDA treatment before you book

Microwave devices are less familiar to many visitors than ultrasound or radiofrequency, and the menu name may not make the mechanism clear. A good clinic can describe, in a sentence or two, what microwave energy does to tissue and why it was chosen for your concern.

Ask for the session count and spacing in writing and for an honest description of what the treatment may and may not change. Modest, conditional language is a more reliable sign than dramatic promises.

ONDA: common questions

Is ONDA the same as radiofrequency?

No. Both use electromagnetic energy, but microwave and radiofrequency behave differently in tissue. Ask the clinic to explain which one is used.

Is it a weight-loss treatment?

No. It is used for localized contouring and tightening, and it does not replace weight management.

How many sessions might I need?

It varies by area and goal. The doctor should explain the reasoning behind the proposed number.
