Dermal Filler

Filler is easy to book and hard to do well. The product itself matters, but so does the person placing it, because the facial blood vessels are close to the surface in many areas and the margin for error is small.

How it works

A hyaluronic acid gel is injected beneath the skin or at deeper levels to restore volume, support a sagging area or reshape contour in places such as the cheeks, chin, nose bridge or jawline. Hyaluronic acid binds water, so the treated area looks fuller. Products differ in firmness and stretch, and the doctor matches the gel to the area. Hyaluronic acid fillers can be dissolved with an enzyme called hyaluronidase if needed. Longevity varies by product, area and person, and the filler is gradually absorbed.

Who it may suit

  • Flattened cheeks or mid-face volume loss
  • A recessed chin or a softer jawline
  • Nasolabial folds and other static lines
  • Balancing facial proportions in small steps
  • People who prefer a reversible, adjustable approach

The treatment day

  1. Assessment and planning. The doctor studies your face at rest and in motion, discusses goals and explains which areas and how much product are sensible.
  2. Product verification. The syringe packaging, brand and lot sticker are shown before use, and the lot is recorded in your chart.
  3. Injection. After numbing, the gel is placed with a needle or cannula, usually in small amounts with checks as it goes.
  4. Review and aftercare. The doctor reviews symmetry, gives warning signs to watch for and sets a follow-up if touch-up is likely.

Aftercare

  • Avoid pressing or massaging the area unless the doctor tells you to.
  • Skip intense exercise, saunas and alcohol for the first day or two.
  • Use cool compresses gently if swelling or bruising appears.
  • Delay dental work and other facial treatments as advised.
  • Seek care immediately for severe pain, blanching, dusky color or vision changes.

Things to know first

  • Swelling, bruising, tenderness and lumps are common and usually settle within days to a couple of weeks.
  • Vascular occlusion, where filler blocks or compresses a blood vessel, is rare but serious and may cause skin damage or, near the eye, vision loss.
  • Overfilling can create an unnatural or puffy look, and some gels migrate or become visible over time.
  • Pregnancy, breastfeeding, active infection near the area and certain allergies are reasons to postpone or avoid.
  • Results vary by person, and touch-ups are common.

What to check before booking dermal filler in Gangnam

The first question is who injects and what happens if something goes wrong. Ask whether a physician places the filler, and whether hyaluronidase is on hand in the room. A clinic that talks openly about vascular occlusion, explains how it would recognize and respond to it, and gives you a way to reach someone afterward is showing preparedness that a polished waiting room cannot.

Genuine product is the second check. Counterfeit and diverted syringes circulate in the market, so ask to see the sealed box, the brand and the lot number, and ask that the syringe be opened in front of you. Many clinics record the lot in your chart, which is also useful if you return for a touch-up elsewhere. A refusal to show packaging, or a mix of products described only as filler, should prompt more questions.

Finally, read the quote. A clear one lists the product by name, the volume in syringes or milliliters, and whether a review visit is included. Be cautious of proposals that add more syringes as you lie down, or that treat several areas in one visit without discussing your proportions. It is acceptable to take the plan home and compare it with another consultation.

Dermal Filler: common questions

Can filler be reversed?

Hyaluronic acid fillers can be dissolved with hyaluronidase, though the result varies and not every filler type can be dissolved.

How long does it last?

It depends on the product, the area and your metabolism, and is commonly from several months to over a year.

What are the warning signs after filler?

Severe or increasing pain, pale or mottled skin, a dusky color, or vision changes need urgent medical attention.

Should I see the syringe packaging?

Yes, it is reasonable to ask. Seeing the sealed box and lot number helps confirm the product.
