Liftera
Liftera, made by Asterasys, is a HIFU system with a pen-type applicator; the key question is how the applicator is used in your plan.
How it works
Liftera is a high-intensity focused ultrasound device from Asterasys that uses a pen-type applicator. The applicator delivers focused ultrasound to selected depths to create small thermal zones in the tissue, with the aim of encouraging gradual tightening. Because the format differs from larger handpieces, it may suit certain areas of the face. Response differs by person.
Good to know
- Ask why a pen-type applicator is suggested for your area and what it offers over a standard handpiece.
- Confirm cartridge depth, number of lines, and who will operate the device.
- Discuss thin-skinned areas and bony contours, where energy planning needs particular care.
- Temporary redness, swelling, or tenderness can occur, and bruising is possible.
Checking a Liftera treatment before you book
An unfamiliar applicator can sound like a distinct treatment, and a menu may market it as such. Ask the clinic to describe it in category terms: focused ultrasound, which depths, and how it differs from others they offer.
Request the plan in writing, including the model and the number of lines per area. Comparing that with a second clinic's proposal makes differences visible quickly.
Liftera: common questions
Is a pen-type applicator gentler?
It may allow more precise placement in small areas, but comfort depends on settings and your sensitivity, not the format alone.
Can it replace a larger HIFU device?
The doctor decides which applicator fits your area and goals. Neither is universally preferable.
How soon can I return to normal activity?
Downtime is usually minimal, though redness or swelling can appear. Ask the clinic what to expect for your area.
